Blogging For Beginners, Posted By: Kevin Williams

7/12/2010 4:14 p.m.

Hey Kevin,

I have to say that I LOVE your blog. The pictures and quotes that you share are amazing. You are very creative and it draws you in. Mrs. Nixon told us at the beginning of the semester to be creative. You took her advice and made an amazing blog.

Your blog, Blogging for Beginners has some really great information. I started blogging last semester for Mrs. Groover’s class, so I am not a beginner, however I still learned some useful tips from your blog. Staying focused is key; I have ready several blogs that long and go off topic and by the time I get to the end I can tell you what I read.   Again, you have some great tips. Keep up the great work on your blog and post!

Why are comments an integral part of blogs?, Posted By: Olivia Jordan

7/12/2010 4:01 p.m.

Hey Olivia,

I enjoyed reading your tips for writing blog comments. I like the one, “try not to start a blog comment war.” A lot of people may feel eerie leaving criticism comments. Not realizing that if it positive criticism it may be very helpful to the other person. Giving them feedback is vital to their growth. “Write more than “Thank you” and “I love it.” It’s good positive reinforcement but it doesn’t add value.” This is so true. I do not want to read, “I loved your blog.” I want to read, “ I loved your blog because…” There are so many tips to give to people about leaving comments; however I think that you hit it right on. Your tips are great!

PR Connection: Mind Your Manners On The Train, Posted By: Lauren O’ Sullivan

7/12/2010 3:32 p.m.

Hey Lauren,

I have never ridden on a train so I thought that your blog was really interesting. I have always wanted to experience a train ride. I have always heard that they are enjoyable; however with the help of your list this will make a train enjoyable for all. I like number two that you posted, “keep your young children and babies on their best behavior while riding on a train. If they cannot do this, then find another form of transportation.” This can be so annoying, I know that kids want to have fun and are very energetic but there is a time for them to be less energetic. Number four, “keep the public displays of affection to a minimum,” this is so true. I hate going into a store or anywhere and seeing to people all over each other, it is very inappropriate. I hope that you enjoy your trip and stay safe.

Are Companies More Trustworthy If They Have Twitter? Posted By, Amy Smith

7/12/2010  3:10 p.m.

Hey Amy,

I really enjoyed reading your blog. I have never thought about this before, however it makes a lot of sense. Companies are really diving themselves into social networks. I agree with the statement you wrote, “If a company is updating their status, and sending out information about sales, and so on, people know that this company is interested in their customers and want them to know that they are always there to help!” This is a way that the companies keep people interested and engaged. There are companies that I stay in touch with through Twitter and Facebook so I can keep up with the deals and events. Your advice to companies about getting a Facebook or Twitter account is right on. I believe it could be very beneficial for the company.

My Night At The Hospital, Posted By: Ashley Storm

7/12/2010  12:28 p.m.

Hey Ashley,

I am so sorry to hear that you had to go to the hospital. I hate going to the emergency room. It is such a long wait and filled with so many germs. I am sure your mom was angry that you did not go sooner to get the cyst looked at. Have you gone to a doctor to see what is causing them to come back? I hope that everything works out for you, so you will not have to deal with the pain again.

PR Connections # 14….10 Cool Facts About Social Media, Posted By: Ansley Woodard

7/12/2010  12:03 p.m.

Hey Ansley,

I really enjoyed reading your list of 10 cool facts about social media. Some of the facts were astonishing, for example, twitter gets more than 300,000 new users every day and people spend over 500 billion minutes per month on Facebook. I also went to the website and it had more astonishing information, for example, there are more than 1 million entrepreneurs and developers from 180 countries on Facebook and there are currently 110 million users of Twitter’s services. Social media has really taken over the way we socialize these days. The fun facts show this with their surprising numbers. All my friends have joined at least one social network. There are a lot of benefits and advantages to social networks. I believe it is going to keep getting bigger.

World Cup sponsors won’t make it out of “group play,” Posted by:Evan Floyd

7/11/2010    10:13 p.m.

Sponsors fight the slot to be on television during major events such as, World Cup, Olympics, Super Bowl, and I am sure there are some that I am leaving out. The problem is that it cost so much and some of the sponsors do not have or want to cough up the money. However, others think that it is mandatory they get a spot every year. The YouTube video was really cool. I was confused by some parts and laughed at others. I honestly have to say though I really do not have that much respect for Nike as a company. I have heard that they assort children to underage working “Child labor”. To me this is so wrong. However, I am not saying that this true, I have just heard it mentioned in several of my business classes and other people.

Make Europe an Educational and Fun Trip, Posted by: Charlie Edwards

7/11/2010  9:49 p.m.

Hey Charlie, I am so glad that you enjoyed your trip to Europe and had the opportunity to be immersed in their culture. I have always wanted to go to Europe, maybe one day I will have the opportunity. During 2009 Christmas Break I had the opportunity to visit Free Port, Bahamas. It was a trip through the leadership office at GSU. If you get the chance you should definitely do it. Like you, I to was immersed in their culture. It was great to sit around and learn different slogans and they said I sounded so country. That was hilarious because I have been told that before.

Everyone should go to another place and learn their culture. It is so much fun and educational. I took back so much from my Bahamas trip. Especially with it being a volunteer opportunity. Looking up the Bahamas on the internet you see the beautiful pictures of the beaches and motels. You do not see the other side. Going on this trip I was able to witness the other side. We went to a village with no running water. The people there were constantly smiling and gracious for our help and kindness. I came back realizing that I take a lot of things for granted.
